Sparwasser HQ präsentiert das temporäre Büro
der International Necronautical Society (INS).
Lanciert mit einem bombastischen Manifest, in welchem der Tod
zu einer spezifischen Art des Raumes deklariert wurde, ist die
International Necronautical Society (INS) eine pseudobürokratische
Organisation, die sich sowohl das Sowjetische System, wie auch
Unternehmensstrukturen aneignet, sowie die untergegangenen Strukturen
der Avantgarden des frühen zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts. Die
INS operiert in der so genannten "Mediensphäre"
wie sie von INS Generalsekretär Tom McCarthy bezeichnet
wird.
Bislang haben folgende Interventionen stattgefunden, wie beispielsweise
die Rekonstruktion eines Mafia-Feuergefechtes in einem Holländischen
Windkanal (2001), öffentliche Verhöre des Komitees
zu Übertragung, Tod und Technologie (2002), die Infiltrierung
der Website des BBC (2003), sowie die Gründung der Broadcasting
Unit, einer eigenen Radio Sendestation im ICA, London (2004).
Letzteres Projekt, das Weltkarten und mehr als fünfzig Agenten
in einer präzise durchorganisierten Text- und Datenverarbeitungsebene
involvierte, verknüpfte Szenen aus Jean Cocteaus Film
Orphée von 1950 mit William S. Burroughs Welt der
"Kontrollräume" um einen konstanten Strom von
zerstückelter - "cut-up" -, lyrischer, rauschender
und knisternder Propaganda zu produzieren, welche auf FM-Radio
in London und via Internet in Zusammenarbeit mit Sendestationen
in Europa und Amerika übertragen wurde.
Der Einladung der Kuratorin Diana Baldon folgend, ist
die INS nun gerüstet, in die geladene historisch-politisch-ästhetische
Zone Berlins zu rücken. Am 10. Juli 2004, für den Zeitraum
von nur zwölf Tagen, öffnet die INS ein Berliner Büro
in Sparwasser HQ, das zu einem Austragungsort für Advance
Reconnaissance / Die Sondierungs Vorhut wird. Die Absicht
ist die Kontaktaufnahme mit Schlüssel-Kulturagenten vor
der zukünftigen Ankunft der INS-Inspektionsspezialisten,
die die Stadt auf die zentralen Belange der INS, Markierung und
Auslöschung, Transit und Transformation, Kryptographie und
Tod überprüfen werden.
Die Dokumente des sich konstant ausdehnenden INS Archivs werden
im Sparwasser HQ zur Untersuchung verfügbar gemacht. INS
Generalsekretär Tom McCarthy wird die Organisation und ihren
theoretischen Rahmen am Samstag den 10. Juli um 18 Uhr, der Presse
und Öffentlichkeit ausdrücklich vorstellen.

Sparwasser HQ is pleased to host the temporary Berlin Office
of the International Necronautical Society (INS).
Launched in 1999 in London with a bombastic Manifesto declaring
that death is a type of space, the International Necronautical
Society (INS) is a pseudo-bureaucratic organisation that, appropriating
and re-purposing both Soviet and corporate systems and the defunct
structures of early twentieth century avant-gardes, operates
in what INS General Secretary Tom McCarthy has called
the 'mediasphere'. Interventions to date have included the re-enactment
in a Dutch wind tunnel of a Mafia shootout (2001), public Committee
Hearings into Transmission, Death and Technology (2002), the
infiltration of the BBC website (2003) and the setting up of
a Broadcasting Unit at London's ICA (2004). This last project,
which involved world maps and more than fifty agents in an elaborate
text and data processing set-up, merged scenes from Jean Cocteau's
1950 film Orphée with William Burroughs's world
of control rooms to produce a constant stream of cut-up, lyrical,
crackling propaganda which was transmitted on FM radio in the
London area and via the internet to collaborating stations in
Europe and America.
Following an invitation by curator Diana Baldon, the INS
is primed to move into the loaded historico-politico-aesthetic
zone of Berlin. On July 10th 2004, for a period of only twelve
days, the INS will open a Berlin office in Sparwasser HQ which
will be used as a venue for Advance Reconnaissance to
contact key cultural agents prior to the future arrival of a
team of INS Inspectorate specialists, who will survey the city
along central INS concerns of marking and erasure, transit and
transformation, cryptography and death. The documents of the
constantly expanding INS archive will be made available for scrutiny
at Sparwasser HQ.
INS General Secretary Tom McCarthy will be formally presenting
the organisation to an audience of press and public on Saturday
July 10th at 18:00h, outlining its theoretical framework.

Public > Paris
Public > is devoted to the spread of contemporary arts.
In January 1999, a group of seven people, mainly artists, created an alternative space in a Parisian cultural background lacking of lively and experimental projects.
In October 2001, they were replaced by a new team of three people. Since then, Émilie Renard, Aurélie Voltz and Giovanna Zapperi, all curators, have been taking over the programmes with many collaborations of artists and independent curators.
Public > is a laboratory which puts the emphasis on experimentation
and risk taking, with an approach aimed at highlighting the creative
process rather than the final object. Programming is focused
on the meeting between different ways of approaching artistic
creation, and acts at the very outside margins of the various
disciplines.
The action of Public > is somewhere between visual arts, live
shows, literature and music, whilst also offering other types
of "entertainment".
Programming is divided between events lasting several days or
weeks and focusing on one question, and more occasional or lightweight
interventions in different and unusual forms.
Public > also operates as a production structure, offering
indoor and outdoor events. Public > develops links with similar
structures in France and abroad to construct joint projects.
Public > also occasionally offers its help to young stewards
for specific projects as a way of stretching our curiosity.
