Marc Quinn
Sein Blutkopf schockierte 1991 London. Mittlerweile zählt der 35jährige Marc Quinn zu den renommierten Vertretern der britischen Kunstszene. Sein Thema ist die Metamorphose des eigenen Körpers als Metapher für den Gratwandel zwischen Leben und Tod, die Transformation von Festem zu Flüssigem und vice versa und die skulpturale Balance zwischen Oberfläche und Kern. Seine Skulpturen aus Marmor, Gummi, Glas, Silber, Kunststoff, Blei und Eis bestechen durch die sinnliche Brillanz ihrer Oberflächen und den Schock ihrer hautnahen Abgüsse. Der Kunstverein Hannover zeigt die erste europäischen Werkschau des Künstlers mit repräsentativen Werken der letzten Jahre. Zu sehen sind insgesamt zehn Skulpturen und eine Fotografie, darunter zahlreiche Neuproduktionen für Hannover, wie zum Beispiel die beiden lebensgroßen männlichen Figuren aus reinweißem Marmor und ein sich küssendes Paar aus Eis.
His Blood Headshocked London in 1991. In the meantime,35 year old Marc Quinn is numbered among the famous representatives of the British art-scene. His theme is the metamorphosis of one's own body as a metaphor for the balan cing act between life and death, the transformation of solid to liquid and vice versa, and the sculptural equilibrium between surface and core. His sculptures of marble, rubber, glass, silver, plastic, lead and ice rivet the attention through the sensual brilliance of their surfaces and the shock of their ciose castings. The Kunstverein Hannover is displaying the first European exhibition of the artist with representative works of recent years. A total of ten sculptures and one photograph may be seen. Among them are numerous new productions for Hannover, for example two life size masculine figures out of pure white marble and a kissing couple out of ice.
