Internationale Kulturtage der Stadt Dortmund, Dortmunder U   Die Ausstellung zeigt subversive künstlerische Strategien, die während des Sozialismus in osteuropäischen Ländern entwickelt wurden. Die Schau stellt die Frage, welches kritische Potential diese künstlerischen Strategien tatsächlich gehabt haben, und welche Bedeutung ihnen in anderen politischen Kontexten bzw. heute &SHY; unter veränderten politischen Bedingungen &SHY; zukommt. Agents & Provocateurs - eine Ausstellung mit über 30 internationalen Künstlern - untersucht bestimmte Formen der Konfrontation: Engagement und Provokation, die als künstlerische Ausdrucksmittel des anders Denkens verstanden werden. FILOART Führungen jeden Sonntag, 16:00 Uhr (in deutscher Sprache)     Building Memory - four films about architecture, monuments, and community HMKV im Dortmunder U (2. Etage), 29. Mai - 15. August 2010 Die Ausstellung "Building Memory" untersucht die Architektur bzw. Architekturen der Erinnerung. Vier international renommierte Videokünstlerinnen und &SHY;künstler &SHY; Yael Bartana (Israel/Niederlande), Miroslaw Balka (Polen), Deimantas Narkevicius (Litauen) und Marcel Odenbach (Deutschland) &SHY; setzen sich in filmischen Neuproduktionen, die speziell für diese Ausstellung in Auftrag gegeben worden sind, mit der Architektur von Gedenkstätten und Mahnmalen, aber auch mit Medien als Orten für Erinnerung und Geschichte auseinander. Alle Arbeiten sind 2008-2009 im postsozialistischen Kontext Mittel- und Osteuropas entstanden und widmen sich unterschiedlichen Aspekten der traumatischen europäischen Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts &SHY; in Polen, der ehemaligen DDR und mit Blick auf die Gründung des Staates Israel im Jahr 1948. Inke Arns     Agents & Provocateurs HMKV at the Dortmunder U (3rd floor), May 14 &SHY; July 18, 2010 The research-based art project Agents & Provocateurs surveys certain forms of confrontation: agency and provocation, both understood as dissenting artistic attitudes. Starting out from the counter-cultural scenes of state-socialist East Central Europe, the project asks what sort of critical potential the oppositional artistic positions of the time really had. Was "oppositional" a (self-)chosen stance, or did the narrow confines of a repressive regime constitute dissident thinkers so? Did artists engage with various aspects of social reality under an autocratic political rule, or were they rather concerned over the infringements of their artistic and intellectual freedom?
